The other reviews quite rightly extol the virtues of yet another amazingly good collection of Dr. Who stories that often leave you picking your jaw off the floor. But I want to concentrate on what makes this new Dr. Who series a stellar addition to my DVD collection...namely the quality of the characters.Let me explain. The only reason we stick around to watch a story to the end is because we have been presented with characters we care about. This may be radical, but I believe the original series focused too much on the story and not enough on all the characters. For example, most original series companions were simply there to get into trouble and start screaming. These new companions, Rose and now Martha, are far more complex and interesting, and THAT is one example of why the modern Dr. Who is so much better. Series 3 continues the balance between story and character that makes me prize this series above the original. (Heresy, I know!) I loved the slightly wacky repartee between the Doctor and Donna in the Christmas Special. And the turn of David Tennant's Doctor back and forth between pre-occupied with the loss of a unique relationship and a laser-focus on the current problem makes his Doctor even more interesting.I think David Tennant's struggle to overcome Rose's departure is a stunning example of a more richly layered Doctor. When has the Doctor ever been affected nearly this much over a lost companion? Rose indeed was something new for the Doctor... a soul-mate with the same reckless abandon and zest for adventure. As a result, Marth's pining for a Doctor who can't even "see" her adds a whole new dimension. This is a relationship between a Doctor who desparately needs someone and Martha as the one who could help but doesn't stand a chance simply because she is more thoughtful than reckless. This makes every story in this collection a dual-layered one - the main story, plus
True Blood box set 1-3 season the undercurrent of the development of a decidedly one-sided relationship of odd peers.John Barrowman returns as Capt. Jack with satisfying effect as another example of focus on character. And Capt. Jack is DEFINATELY a character. Even HIS relationship with the Doctor is showing more layers than before. Derek Jacobi pulls off a wonderfully understated performance of a personality which we are both irresistably drawn to and repelled from. Finally, in every
Leverage season dvds season of the New
Castle box set collection 1-2 Who, there is a central, repeating theme. In Season 1, it was "Bad Wolf". In Season 2, it was "Torchwood". See if you can figure out what the theme for Season 3 is.
This excellent 6-disk collection is a favorite

Another exciting season although his new companion

CSI Miami dvd season in the next season, the Doctor will pick up an alien companion that can stand up to his strong character. If would be nice if there was a Romana-like character with superior intellect or a Leela-like character who was always looking for a good fight. In any case, it's one of the shows I enjoy the most. I can't

i thought the 3rd series of Dr
Smallville dvd collection Who was the best of the new series.I may be the only one who thinks this but I am so glad that Rose is gone.I like Martha and I thought that the mourning that the Doctor did for Rose unrealistic for the character. The stories however were great. The Shakespeare code was extremeley well written and any one who has along
